21 Grams was one of the dopest, most well-rounded tapes of 2011.

Then Stevie Joe started of 2012 by flipping that waste-of-network-time’s name into a mixtape title pun, incorporating rap life’s two very essentials booty and Buddha into it.

Ass N Kusher is a mixtape, not in the sense of low bitrates and some waste-of-airtime DJ hollering in your ear at a high volume, but it’s mixed together seamlessly. It starts off with LiveWire’s patented electro slaps bulldozing all over the competition, with Stevie Joe not taking his foot off the gas until the seventh song. He’s clearly, as he declares over some next level trap funk on Pu$$y Good, on some “straight to the point, no colorful punchlines / kush and coffee for breakfast, rappers for lunchtime” shit.

Although missing the standout hits of 21 Grams, Ass N Kusher is a varied and very strong tape, and finishes with the nearly eigth minute long for-the-ladies-rap Elevadors Remix (originally a slap by the The Hoodstarz), which I’d describe as cloud rap if it wasn’t so firmly rooted in the electro sound flooding the Bay Area as of late.

BONUS STEVIE JOE VIDEO: Continually impressed by how that “Life’s A Bitch” meme keep travelling into new levels of freshness.

I grenen formuleringskonst utmanar ingen vettig människa E-40.

Jag såg reklam för en ny intervju med farbror Earl i den där matrix-loopen som ni kallar för social media… och han har fantastiska nyheter åt oss som har börjat tröttna på Hugo Boss och Armani.

So what’s next?

Man, you know what, I’m trying to come up with this cologne called Sucker Repellant.

You are shitting me.

No, I’m not bullshiting. Trademark by me, Earl Stevens, you can look it up, Google it or whatever you want to do. Sucker Repellant, you smell me? That’s my slogan: You Smell Me. I’m on the case right there.

As evident on the photo above, Hus-Alah AKA Jesus Cristo AKA your favorite rapper has not only very good taste in gear, but also in rap music.

The Jacka with Squadda B and Fed-X. You know that Main Attrakionz got a song coming with The Jacka… over a Rob Lo beat, right?

Also found three new songs from Squadda B, the first two from his next tape, Squad Ready – I Declare War, the other a collabo with San Francisco rapper DaVinci.

YS x Greenova – Lost Tracks

One of the most talented Greenova producers, responsible for Down, Leave Da Tags On 2K12, G.O. Concert, Unfamiliar, YS’s shit slaps hard, and at the same, it’s very atmospheric. Beats are clean and dirty, spacious and dense.

What’s crucial here is to know exactly what very small pieces from the worlds of trap rap beats and ambient techno should be fit together for a grand monument. He pulls that off a few times on this tape.

Still, there’s a reason for these songs being unreleased. They’re a bit rough, and at times it’s evident exactly how much more skilled and precise the raps of Squadda B, Mondre M.A.N. and Shady Blaze have become in a short time.

There are a few solid slaps on here, and a lot of experimenting. That Shady Blaze goes off over a more or less 120 bpm electro track and makes it sound very fresh instead of very corny shows how far ahead of the competition they really are.

Detta är live as fuxx. Klubben slappas all the way up.

Den 28:e februari släpps årets skiva. Nä just det – tre skivor är det.

Earl blir bara bättre med åren, och hans känsla för att röra ihop beats och gäster till en helhet gör att han platsar i Michelin-guiden.

Did not know that there was a video for this. Which means that there might be visuals for any of my old favorites out there on the tube. How will I sleep?

Premier’s funkiest beat ever, and Short kicks four minutes of interrupted truth.

They done edited out all the cuss words tho…

“What’s funky?… I say pussy on an old hoe… I guess yall fool dont know.”
