The father of hip hop Clive Campbell also known as DJ kool Herc (55) is in the hospital with a bad health condition. That’s what DJ Premier said on this week Live From HQ. It’s doesn’t look positive as Kool Herc doesn’t have a health insurance and the billings go higher and higher. No more details were given but he is in need of some financial help as soon as possible. We at DJPremierBlog.com pray for the best…

If you are willing to give financial support for DJ Kool Herc in this difficult time but you don’t know how, mail me (gimantalon) at gim[at]djpremierblog.com and I’ll keep you updated on any details possible.

Freddi Foxxx’ rant about a hiphop government makes sense here: Why don’t people pay fines for biting, and why don’t Grandwizard Theodore, Afrika Bambaataa, Grandmaster Flash and DJ Kool Herc get a pension from all the billions made on the culture that they have created? (A classic collision between democratic, folklore, popular culture and cheap corporate culture that can be seen in many other situations across society.)

I recently read Kool Hercs introduction to Jeff Chang’s Can’t Stop Won’t Stop (which seems to be one of the better books written on hiphop), and thought that today is as good a day as any to share some of the wisdom spoken.
